Parent & Family Weekend
Each fall, parents are invited to campus for a weekend of activities and programs, including an LSU football game.

A few weeks after classes start in the fall, parents are invited to campus to experience some of the educational opportunities, activities, and culture of the University. Activities include special workshops for parents, a chance to visit the University's galleries and museums, and the simple pleasure of a fall day on campus with your student.

Thanks to all the families who participated in the 2009 LSU Family Weekend!

2008 Family Weekend

The 2008 LSU Family Weekend was held November 14-16th and was a huge success! We had over 300 families in attendance bringing more than 1200 visitors to campus for a fun-filled weekend. This weekend allowed LSU families to spend quality time with their students, meet other LSU families and interact with administrators, faculty and staff from around campus.

Families enjoyed a Welcome Dinner at 459 Commons, Informational Sessions on Academic Programs Abroad and Career Services, a Family Tailgate Party, and an exciting game in Tiger Stadium. During the Closing Lunch on Sunday our families met with Chancellor Michael Martin, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Dr. Stacy Haynie, and Dean of Students Dr. KC White.

Thank you to all the families who enjoyed the weekend with us. We hope to see you again soon. For those families who did not have a chance to make it this year we look forward to seeing you at Family Weekend 2009!

Adjustment to college life or a new university can be an exciting and a challenging experience for both students and parents and we invite all parents of incoming students to participate is Family Orientation. Attending Family Orientation is a great opportunity to become more familiar with the LSU. The two day program is designed to help answer questions about University resources and opportunities and find out what to expect the first year. Staff members from several campus offices and current students of many majors are available to answer questions. For more information, see the Office of Orientation’s Web site.

Below are some of the PowerPoint presentations from the 2009 Freshman Orientation, Advising & Preregistration Family Orientation Programs

***Please note that these presentations contain information that was current at the time they were presented (June-July 2009) and the material is subject to change at any time. Please contact the specific LSU departments for the most accurate and up to date information.
