THE OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT >> THE LINK
The Office of International Development serves as an advocate for international programs, provides important links between the various key components of our campus on international matters, and promotes dialog that will serve as a catalyst for increasing international activities at LSU.
In order to achieve viability, visibility, and acknowledgement for international projects we will build upon past and current endeavors, leverage strategic partnerships and capitalize on opportunities. Therefore a clear and accurate picture of the current level of activity and involvement is crucial.
Please contact us if you would like to initiate a new international cooperative agreement. We will be happy to work with you to expand opportunities on our campus.
If you are already involved in international projects, please help us mainstream “international” at LSU by reporting your projects to the Office of International Development (intdev@lsu.edu)
Be sure to include the following information so that you and your efforts may be appropriately recognized and conveyed effectively into our centralized database.
- Contributor’s name
- Specific LSU College and Department
- Type of activity (e.g. collaborative research with an international institution, academic programs for LSU students [include site, number of participants, disciplines taught], visiting international faculty etc.)
- Foreign university and/or institution and its location(City and Country)
- Area(s) of expertise used in the project.
The OID will not intervene in individual projects unless invited. The database will be used for the sole purposes of:
- Determining and reporting the current level of international activity at LSU
- Collecting data on international efforts in one centralized location to demonstrate the strong faculty interest in a variety of international projects
- Creating visibility for and recognition of international initiatives
- Facilitating networking for professors interested in developing multi-disciplinary international programs and/or assisting colleagues who want to initiate international endeavors for the first time
- Strengthening and broadening existing ties
- Contributing to the protocol of welcoming international faculty and dignitaries to our university
- Providing expertise in support of international economic development for the University and the State
- Sharing important information on cultural etiquette and nuances that will lead to more successful interaction with colleagues from foreign institutions
