 | Course Management Systems (CMS) provide virtual environments for the teaching and learning process. They support critical functions of online instruction and course administration, and have assumed an important role in higher education. Over eighty percent of U.S. institutions have established standards for a single campus CMS.
Action Item 7.01 of the University’s Flagship Information Technology Strategy (FITS) states that, “The University must provide a single course management system that responds to the changing needs of the University.”
The purpose of this Web site is to provide information and interaction relative to the work of a subcommittee of the FITS Teaching and Learning Task Force. The subcommittee’s charge is to evaluate CMS platforms and recommend a single application for adoption by the University.
