| GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Independence, Confidentiality, Informality, and Neutrality are the Guiding Principles for the LSU Ombuds Office.
Independent
The Ombudsperson is independent in structure, function, and appearance to the highest degree possible. The University Ombudsperson has a direct reporting line to Chancellor Sean O’Keefe, and an affiliation with the Office of Equity, Diversity & Community Outreach.
Confidential
The Ombudsperson holds all communications with those seeking assistance in strict confidence. The only exception to this confidentiality is where there appears to be risk of serious harm or suspicion of child/vulnerable adult abuse.
Informal
The Ombudsperson does not participate in any formal adjudicative or administrative procedure. Use of Ombuds services is totally voluntary and not a required step in any LSU grievance process or university procedure.
Neutral
The Ombudsperson impartially considers the interests of all parties involved in a situation, in order to assist the parties in reaching mutually acceptable agreements that are fair, equitable, and consistent with the mission and policies of LSU.
Terms of Reference – COMING SOON
Terms of Reference for the Ombuds Office are being established in order to define the role, privileges, and responsibilities of the University Ombudsperson at LSU. It is intended that the Terms will serve as a clear and consistent set of operating principles and expectations. These Terms of Reference will be published on this website as soon as they are finalized.
