Message from the Vice Provost

At Louisiana State University, we recognize that diversity, in all its dimensions, contributes to the overall quality of the flagship institution. Diversity fosters academic excellence and scholarship and affirms an appreciation for all members in our campus community.

Equity, Diversity & Community Outreach offers many opportunities to challenge our community in meaningful ways–involvement and opportunities that incorporate the differences each of us brings to an academic, professional, civic, and social environment. EDCO challenges the LSU community to become global leaders by embracing the unique characteristics, traits, and talents of others and encouraging cross cultural dialogue and interaction.

Programming efforts and special projects allow EDCO to support students, faculty, and staff from a broad spectrum of cultural experiences. This informational and interactive website will assist you in discovering how EDCO promotes a living learning environment at LSU that is welcoming to all persons regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, socioeconomic status, gender, gender identity/expression, age, sexual orientation, spirituality, disability status, family status, experiences, opinions, or ideas.

The realization of increasing cultural competence and developing connections across differences is both rewarding and challenging. It requires us to be stretched beyond our imagination. Our success around diversity is directly related to our university community–one that listens, interacts, and responds.

Join us as we continue to promote the values of respect for human dignity, the power of knowledge and education, the honor of the beliefs of others, and an optimistic view for transformational change.

I invite you to explore our website and encourage you to do your part in promoting diversity and educational inclusion. Equity, Diversity, & Community Outreach welcomes you to LSU.
