 | The Office of Academic Affairs (Equity, Diversity & Community Outreach) encourages you to participate in an exciting new initiative called the LSU Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Visiting Faculty Program. This program, aimed at advancing the National Flagship Agenda action item, objective 4: increasing diversity and inclusiveness of LSU, with increased emphasis on recruiting and retaining minority and women students and faculty, has three primary goals: 1) to increase African American faculty presence at LSU; 2) to facilitate scholarly collaboration between LSU faculty and visiting faculty members from HBCU’s across the nation; and 3) to encourage outstanding HBCU undergraduates to consider LSU as their graduate school of choice.
Program Requirements:
- Visiting faculty member must be a faculty member at an historically Black college or university (HBCU).
- Visiting faculty member should have a research agenda that fits well within the scope of the nominating department and college.
- One semester visitation in the Spring semester.
- Priority disciplines include: Humanities, Arts & Sciences, Mass Communication, and Social Work (Note: Other disciplines may receive consideration).
- Visiting faculty must be nominated by the academic college.
- Deans should make nominations to the Academic Affairs' Vice Provost for Equity, Diversity & Community Outreach one month from the first day of Fall classes.
- Nominations will be reviewed by the UPC.
